Back to School Project
Our "Back to School Project" is one of the many significant
ministries CUMC does...providing children of low-income families with new
clothes, shoes, back-packs and school supplies. Church and Society
participates in this project on behalf of CUMC.
SHARE - Every Sunday is SHARE Sunday. Some of you
have asked "When can we bring food?" You may drop food items (canned,
boxed) in the Food Box in the Narthex any Sunday when you come to church.
It is on the Third Sunday that we emphasize that everyone bring extra
food items and load the food container.
Thank you for remembering the poor among us. Share is feeding
approximately 1250 clients per month of which 42% are children.
Items requested are macaroni and cheese , rice, and canned vegetables.
State law forbids any "home canned " items. Container made of glass are
also not allowed.
Loaves and Fishes
On the fourth Thursday of each month, CUMC prepares and serves a meal .
We have been involved in the program for about 20 years. The program
opened a new dining room in Oakley this year. Since the opening of
their new Catering Kitchen in Pittsburg they are expanding services.
Loaves and Fishes has served 2,200,000 meals to the hungry of Contra Costa
during the last 20 years. For information, call Dave Clegg (925)
672-3079.
Meals on Wheels
Every Wednesday, volunteers from CUMC pick up and deliver meals for one
route. Call Dave Clegg (925) 672-3079
